Our Recruitment Process: 7 Steps
The recruitment process of Silk Road Workforce Management has evolved during the 10 years of operation. Now we can safely say that we are one of the leading providers of foreign workforce management solutions in Finland. Our program is designed to be efficient, with a clear order of steps and a focus on attracting the best talent. In this article, we’ll discuss about how the recruitment process works.
As Easy As Possible
Silk Road understands the importance of a smooth and easy recruitment process. We believe that complexity can deter talented candidates from applying and can ultimately result in the loss of the best candidates. Therefore, we have designed our program to be easy and straightforward.
Order of Recruitment Process
Our program follows a clear order of steps. This ensures that each candidate is evaluated based on the same criteria and that the process is fair and consistent. The 7 steps in our recruitment process are:
- Signing Up
To begin the journey with us, the candidates must sign up as a nurse or a caregiver for one of our weekly online orientations. The sign-up forms can be found from our website. After filling in the form, the applicants receive an email with links to attend one of the upcoming orientations via Zoom.
- Self-studies
In the orientation, the host will provide the participants the access to our self-study material. The material consists of different exercises, tasks and audio files. The purpose of the self-studies is to help the applicants master the basic skills of the Finnish language, including greetings, numbers and self-introduction.
- Document evaluation
After starting to learn the basics of Finnish language, it’s time to submit the documents for evaluation. This includes the diplomas or certificates of education, official transcripts of records, resumes and certificates of employment, if available. We will give instructions on how to submit the documents by e-mail.
- Interview
After the documents are evaluated and the applicant has turned out to be eligible, we will reach out to them via e-mail for scheduling an interview with one of our interviewers. The interviews are done online and the interviewees can choose a time slot that suits their schedules the best.
- Language Studies
Once the interview is passed and the documents are checked, the language training will start. Our classes are designed to be flexible and accommodate the applicants’ needs because we understand that the applicants’ schedules may be hectic. We will also provide one-on-one sessions with a teacher. Those sessions assist the students to improve their speaking skills.
- Picking an Employer
After approximately six weeks of study, we will guide the applicants through the residency permit process. The processing will be done during the language training. We will also pick a suitable employer together. After that the only thing left before flying to Finland is couching the applicants to get started with their everyday life in Finland!
- Arrival to Finland
Upon arrival in Finland, we will be waiting for the new employees to pick them up from the airport and take them to their new apartments. We will also assist in setting up bank accounts, registering with population services, and familiarizing with the new workplace. We are here to make the transition to the new home country as smooth as possible.
How Long is the Recruitment Process?
One of the most common questions the applicants have about the Silk Road recruitment process is how long it takes. While the length can vary depending on the language training and the residence permit processing time, we typically complete the recruitment process within 6 to 12 months.

I have looked into your submissions and I think the problem is that there is no OTR. The official transcript of records must outline what was included in your certification and the hours of study in the certification. This is for us to validate if the certification in question makes you eligible to join or not.

The study kit ensures that our recruits are showing real interest in the program. Since Silk Road does not charge our recruits anything for the language studies we have to make sure that only the applicants with the most will to learn are signed up.

Yes if you are not qualified you will receive a message stating this. Once your documents have been checked you will either receive your interview booking link or your letter of rejection incase you did not qualify.

Before being able to book the interview you will need to have your documents approved. The interview will be based on the self studies and be a simple language assessment to check if you have done your part and done the self studies.
If you are not able to get a certificate of employment it is possible to substitute it with a copy of your work contract and your latest paycheck to prove your work.

I want to find out at what point is one required to submit international passport. Because in my region, it takes a while before the passport is released I already applied for it since May 2023. It takes like 3 months but I have other documents. Can I still proceed with the application with your organization? I will be expecting your reply.

Great question.
We require the passport to be submitted before you can begin language studies. Doing your initial self studies, having your documents checked and your language assessment/interview can take anywhere from 4-8 weeks depending on queues and your own speed of learning the language. We require the passport to be submitted in the Detailed information form that you fill out. This is done early in the process. Before the documents are approved you are not able to have your interview.
I would recommend to ensure your documents are in line with our requirements and then wait until your passport arrives and sign up for the program. Alternatively you can sign up now and do your self studies while waiting for your passport and state that your passport will arrive later in the detailed information form. You will then receive a form to submit missing documents. You can wait with submitting this until you receive your passport.

Document checking usually takes 2-3 weeks. As of right now your documents have not yet been checked.
We only issue certificates in certain cases when the employer that you have signed a contract with is requesting one.

You will not be able to book any 1 on 1 appointments before your documents have been approved. At that point you will be sent a link to book your interview. Later you will also have access to 1 on 1 meetings with your teacher. However, this only happens once you have been placed in a language learning group.

If the names do not match up there is a high certainty that you will be deemed not eligible.
the consent form is not something that you download. The consent form is filled out during the orientation. If you didn’t fill it out during the orientation you can either be in contact with our support team over Facebook direct messages or retake the orientation and make sure to fill it out this time.
If your IP has been banned we recommend using a different network and device to submit your documents.

I recommend joining another orientation and paying close attention so you don’t miss the link to the consent form. Your documents have been approved and you are queued up to start language training. The delay in language training grouping is due to the limit on the amount of students per language group. Once the limit is hit the rest of that weeks passed people will be added to the language group starting the week after that. If that group is also full already then they start the week after that and so on.

Currently we are having a lot of recruits start language training and our batches are filling up fast. If you have passed the interview and had your documents approved you will be signed up to the next available language study batch that is not yet full. It might take a couple weeks but you can be certain that you will receive your study group soon enough!

It might take 2-3 weeks before you hear about the starting date of your language group as our groups are filling up very fast at the moment.
You do not have to upload your medical documents before after your language group has started.

Make sure you join at the right time. The times are in EEST time zone so you will need to convert it to your local time zone to make sure you show up during the correct time. Make sure you are in the waiting room a few minutes before the orientation is supposed to start to make sure you will get a space in the orientation.

I attended the orientation last august 18 2023 i already submit the consent form but i still did not receive any email from NLRC for my self study kit. I checked all my spam folder and my other folders but there is none. Somehow i did receive an email from SILKROAD to submit my documents. Please help me regarding with my concern.

Yes you passed your interview. I cannot give you an exact date for when you will start language training but my best guess is in 2-3 weeks.

I made an effort to study the language furthermore and my second interview is scheduled for August 30th. My question is, am I still eligible because I was affected by the new document rules starting July 1? Or can I still apply because I remember on you last live Q n A on June 14 streaming you mentioned that those who applied “BEFORE THE NEW RULES IN July 1 WON’T BE AFFECTED” I only have 300 hours of study as a nursing assistant and 4 years of experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital here in Qatar. Hey Henrieta! The issue with your application is similar to many others at the moment. Usually, we receive a diploma issued by the institution where one has done the studies. It’s different compared to a certificate of registration. We have not had situations before where the school doesn’t actually give the graduated people diplomas. But we are investigating the situation and trying to find out if the residence permit application is possible to be processed with the kind of diploma you are providing us. We are also in the process of verifying those documents from the institutions which issue them. So, unfortunately, we are not able to proceed with your application before we have solved these issues!

Anyhow, we will contact you as soon as we get your documents checked. It should happen within 3 weeks of the missing documents submission.

As far as I am able to tell you have passed your interview and your documents have been approved. You should be receiving your language study group this incoming Monday. If you have not heard back by then please contact our support through our facebook business page’s direct message.

I have a question: Is it feasible for married applicants to be placed in the same group? Additionally, could you provide information on how the process will unfold once we have successfully completed the NLRC required exams for employment in Finland? My husband and I submitted our applications simultaneously for this program. While I have received my groupings, he has not. Assuming everything goes smoothly and we both secure employment there, we are interested in residing in the same city. Is this a possibility?
Hi Charis!
Yes this is possible in many cases but depends on the decisions of the language training.
I would recommend you to start language training and express this wish to your teachers. They can then place you in your husbands group once he has been given his group.
When it comes to where you will be deployed you can express your wish to be deployed in the same city and we try to accommodate those wishes wherever possible, especially when it is a husband and wife. Assuming you both are able to finish the language training at the same time I am sure the chances are good that you are placed together.
