Why Every Nurse and Caregiver Should Work in Finland!
Considering what Finland has to offer we really think that every nurse and caregiver should try and work in Finland. Finland is known for having one of the best healthcare systems in the world. If you’re a nurse or caregiver, it’s no wonder that you might be interested in working there. The country has a long history of providing high-quality medical services and an excellent system for training new nurses and caregivers, which makes it the ideal place to get your career started or further develop your skills.
The second reason why Finland is such a great place to work as a nurse or caregiver is because of its comparatively low cost of living. You might think that with such high standards of care, Finland would be expensive. But actually, housing costs are much lower than in many other countries with similar quality healthcare systems. In fact, according to Numbeo’s Cost of Living Index for 2022 , Helsinki—the capital city and largest metropolitan area in Finland—has one of the lowest costs of living amongst all comparable countries!
Safety should be a major factor when deciding where you want to live. Finland has one of the lowest crime rates in all of Europe and a low rate of unemployment, which means there’s a much lower chance that you’ll be mugged or robbed while living there than if you lived somewhere else like Stockholm or Berlin.
All of these aspects are well reflected in the World Happiness Report where Finland ranks #1 in the world by the United Nations. So, if you want to live somewhere that has a comparatively low cost of living, offers access to good healthcare, safety for you and your family as well as other public services, Finland might be the perfect fit for you!
So, you might ask: What’s the catch?
There isn’t one! Finland is simply facing a shortage of caregivers and nurses and needs more healthcare professionals to take care of its ageing population. In other words, you are the solution to Finland’s demand for more healthcare workers.
For many years, Silk Road has recruited nurses and caregivers from all over the world. During those years we’ve helped thousands of people find jobs here in Finland, many of whom were unfamiliar with our country’s customs or culture when they arrived.
What kind of support do you offer your recruits?
The support we provide consists of helping newly arrived workers settle into Finnish society. We provide a full range of visa assistance, airport pickup and assistance upon arrival, temporary housing, orientation program, Finnish language classes and help with finding accommodation. Our goal is to help you settle into your new life in Finland as soon as possible.
If you decide that Finland turned out to be the perfect place for you and your family you can apply for citizenship after 5 years of living in the country. We believe that everyone has the right to live a happy and healthy life in a safe country. We want to help people find jobs in Finland so they can start their own journey towards a better future for them and their family.

How have your recruits adapted to working in Finland?
Some of the first nurses and caregivers that Silk Road helped recruit have now lived in Finland for more than 10 years! They have become full-fledged Finnish citizens and have brought their families to Finland to live with them. Even though they are now Finnish citizens, they still maintain strong ties with the Philippines and have joined local Filipino communities in Finland. Seeing the people we recruit establish themselves and start their work in Finland while actively building a better future for them and their families is the most rewarding feeling there is for us.
